Never will one individual be equal to any other person, so why is this terminology constantly being used? Equality. How about the differences, discrepancies, injustices and inequalities be truthfully realized? Might we then find just how much similarity in fact lies between various individuals, ethnic groups and even the two genders, and learn to embrace similarity beyond these common lines of division. As individuals we have much more in common with one another than the things that differentiate us. Still this will never make us equal to one another. Our choice of words matters and is important.

Does reality not lie in society’s equal opportunity and equal rights instead? Can we one day avert our attention to a more realistic approach of seeing the world where cultural and religious nuances seem banal?
